If you can get your hands on a good assault rifle it will make this a lot easier. You can craft a good assault rifle by using a makeshift assault rifle and mechanical parts or you can visit an NPC to buy some upgrades.
Team rumble is a good game mode to do this in as you respawn and keep your weapons so you can rinse and repeat until you have this quest.
